In the world of opera, José Carreras is the ultimate star – the Grammy award winning Spanish tenor from Barcelona has ruled the headlines with his singular voice. One of the Three Tenors, he, along with Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, mesmerized the world and this year performs in his Global Farewell Concerts.
In Bangkok, he will be accompanied by a world-renowned soprano Celine Byrne and an orchestra conducted by globally-acclaimed David Giménez whose extraordinary understanding of the voice has seen him perform with leading singers and orchestras like Teatro alla Scala, Vienna Staatsoper, Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Zurich Opera among others.
Carreras’ string of awards include a Grammy (plus four Grammy nominations), Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Sir Lawrence Olivier Award, Echo Lifetime Achievement Award, Classical Brit Lifetime Achievement Award and Gold Medal of the City of Barcelona among others. He has performed at four Fifa World Cup Finals including at the Dodger Stadium, at Barcelona Olympics and at the world’s most prestigious opera theatres and festivals, including La Scala in Milan, the New York Metropolitan Opera House, and London’s Royal Opera House to name a few.
